Chapter 17 | Śhraddhā Traya Vibhāg Yog| Verse 18

सत्कारमानपूजार्थं तपो दम्भेन चैव यत् ।
क्रियते तदिह प्रोक्तं राजसं चलमध्रुवम्

satkāra-māna-pūjārthaṁ tapo dambhena chaiva yat
kriyate tad iha proktaṁ rājasaṁ chalam adhruvam

સત્કારમાનપૂજાર્થં તપો દંભેન ચૈવ યત્ ।
ક્રિયતે તદિહ પ્રોક્તં રાજસં ચલમધ્રુવમ્

MEANING

Austerity (tapas) that is performed for the sake of gaining respect, honor, worship, or recognition, and out of hypocrisy or show, is said to be rajasic (in the mode of passion). Its results are temporary and uncertain.

जो तप सम्मान, आदर, पूजा या प्रसिद्धि पाने के लिए, तथा दंभ और दिखावे से किया जाता है, वह राजसी तप कहलाता है। उसका फल अस्थायी और अनिश्चित होता है।

જે તપ સન્માન, આદર, પૂજા અથવા પ્રસિદ્ધિ મેળવવા માટે, તેમજ દંભ અને દેખાડા સાથે કરવામાં આવે છે, તે રાજસી તપ કહેવાય છે. તેનું ફળ ક્ષણિક અને અસ્થિર હોય છે.
