Chapter 17 | Śhraddhā Traya Vibhāg Yog| Verse 21
यत्तु प्रत्युपकारार्थं फलमुद्दिश्य वा पुन: ।
दीयते च परिक्लिष्टं तद्दानं राजसं स्मृतम्
yat tu pratyupakārārthaṁ phalam uddiśhya vā punaḥ
dīyate cha parikliṣhṭaṁ tad dānaṁ rājasaṁ smṛitam
યત્તુ પ્રત્યુપકારાર્થં ફલમુદ્દિશ્ય વા પુનઃ ।
દીયતે ચ પરિકલિષ્ટં તદ્દાનં રાજસં સ્મૃતમ્
MEANING
But charity that is given with the expectation of receiving something in return, or with the desire for a reward, and given reluctantly or unwillingly, is considered rajasic (in the mode of passion).
जो दान किसी प्रत्युपकार (बदले) की आशा से, या फल की इच्छा से, तथा अनिच्छा या मन में कष्ट के साथ दिया जाता है, वह राजसी दान कहलाता है।
જે દાન બદલામાં કોઈ ઉપકારની અપેક્ષાથી, અથવા કોઈ ફળ મેળવવાની ઇચ્છાથી, તેમજ મનમાં ખેદ, અનિચ્છા અથવા ભારપૂર્વક આપવામાં આવે છે, તે રાજસી દાન કહેવાય છે.
