Chapter 17 | Śhraddhā Traya Vibhāg Yog| Verse 20

दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेऽनुपकारिणे ।
देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम्

dātavyam iti yad dānaṁ dīyate ‘nupakāriṇe
deśhe kāle cha pātre cha tad dānaṁ sāttvikaṁ smṛitam

દાતવ્યમિતિ યદ્દાનં દીયતેઽનુપકારિણેઃ ।
દેશે કાલે ચ પાત્રે ચ તદ્દાનં સાત્ત્વિકં સ્મૃતમ્

MEANING

Charity that is given with the feeling that “it ought to be given,” to a person who cannot repay, and given at the proper place, at the proper time, and to a worthy recipient, is considered sattvic charity.

जो दान केवल कर्तव्य समझकर दिया जाता है, बदले में किसी उपकार या प्रतिफल की अपेक्षा किए बिना, तथा उचित स्थान, उचित समय और योग्य पात्र को दिया जाता है, वह सात्त्विक दान कहलाता है।

જે દાન “આ મારું કર્તવ્ય છે” એવી ભાવનાથી, કોઈ બદલાની અપેક્ષા રાખ્યા વિના, યોગ્ય સ્થળે, યોગ્ય સમયે અને યોગ્ય પાત્રને આપવામાં આવે છે, તે સાત્ત્વિક દાન કહેવાય છે.
